Moseskill Marketplace is pleased to announce that Deadlines, Headlines & Porcupines, The Laugh Lines Behind the Bylines written by Ann Hauprich and illustrated by Steve Nease is available at the shop.  Ann has earned awards in publication categories ranging from Best Editorial to Best Feature Article to Best Front Page Design and served for several years on the Journalism Advisory Committee of her beloved Alma Mater, Sheridan College of Applied Arts & Technology.  She returned to the Saratoga Region in the early 1990s to be closer to her family and chose to freelance from home and soon had bylines in such publications as Adirondack Life, Bluegrass Unlimited, GRIT, Writer’s Digest and Women’s Circle.  While working on Deadlines, she created Saratoga County Living, a tiny magazine that showcased the faces behind the places.  This magazine was sold in 2004 so she could devote her time to what she loved most:  writing.  Deadlines was inspired by a doc who heals fractured funny bones, a bubbly bottle museum curator, a bear-hunting granny, a sweet candy-maker, an udderly humorous dairy farmer.. and a host of other playful souls.  Nease’s illustrations are samples of his creations that are syndicated across Canada, including the family comic strip, Pud.

‘Ann will be just one of ten regional authors who will be attending Meet the Authors Day to be held at Moseskill on Saturday, November 18th, from 11 to 2.  Joe Peck, Barbara Garro, Penny Heritage, Dorice Nelson, Shel Damsky, Rose Bain, Gary Danforth, Mike Carpenter, and Bob Henke will be joining Ann on the 18th

Moseskill Marketplace welcomed a new member at their last meeting held May 31st at their shop at 120 Main Street Argyle.  Joe Vertichio, a WWII Navy veteran and retired plant engineer, is a self taught artist.  He developed an affinity for the feel and texture of slate and applied his artistic talent to carving on slate, particularly roofing slates from discarded barns and old houses.  The slates are unique in their design and rendering, presenting a one of a kind hand carving.  His slates have won first prize and best of show in area art shows.  Where he can trace the history of the old barn or building, it is noted on the back.  Joe’s carved slates have also been exhibited in the Slate Valley Museum, Granville.  Joe and his wife, Peggy, operate an antique shop on Route 29 in Middle Falls.  In addition to his carvings, he restores old sleighs, buggies and other farm equipment.
